Tips for Shooting Delicate LED Video Wall

2023-05-23 2,016

LED video wall realizes the display through high-frequency scanning, so when shooting with SLR, video camera and other equipment, strobe phenomenon will occur.

The refresh rate of itc LED display can be up to 3840Hz, that is, the screen is refreshed 3840 times within 1 second. Frame refresh frequency of movies is generally 24Hz, that is, there are only 24 frames in 1 second. If a movie with a frame rate of 24Hz is displayed on an LED display with a refresh rate of 3840Hz, each frame of the movie is refreshed 160 times (3840/24=160) by the display screen. If a file with a frame rate of 60Hz is played by a computer, each frame of the file is refreshed 64 times (3840/60= 64) by the display screen.

itc team adjusts the camera parameters and shoots to get a clear and delicate display effect.

ISO setting

ISO is the photosensitivity of the camera, including the parameters of ISO100, 200, 400, 800, etc. ISO affects the exposure and image noise (graininess and speckled color). As the parameter increases, more light enters, and the image brightness and image noise increase with the rise of ISO. High ISO parameter will cause serious graininess in the photo, which will affect the texture of the photo; low ISO parameter will result in fine and clear images. When shooting in dim light, it is often necessary to choose a higher ISO sensitivity.

Shutter parameter setting

The camera's shutter controls the exposure time for each shot, and if the shutter is open longer, more light reaches the image sensor. Although the photos taken with slower shutter speeds will be brighter, it is more likely to cause fuzzy images due to the movement of the subject or the camera; faster shutter speeds are suitable for shooting dynamic objects, but the color of the photos will become dull. If the shutter speed is set too high, the motion in the video and screen motion will be not fluent.

  • In automatic mode, the shutter speed is automatically determined by the camera.
  • In aperture priority mode, the shutter speed is determined by light, aperture size, and ISO value;
  • In shutter priority mode, the shutter speed is set by the photographer.

 Shutter value and exposure value

The shutter value and exposure value of each brand are different. The value of mobile phones will be high, so the corresponding setting should be based on the actual situation.

Solution for strobe: In the shutter priority mode, lower the shutter speed of the camera, 30 is the best value (subject to the actual effect on site; calculate the appropriate refresh times according to the actual refresh rate of the LED screen display and the frame refresh frequency of the video source), and adjust the ISO to optimize the overall brightness.

Suggestion: The brightness of live broadcast with the LED display as the background is constantly changing. At this time, manual exposure should be used, and the subject should be supplemented with light (such as spotlight, face light, etc.); if the live broadcast scene is too large or the ambient luminosity deviates too much, it is best to use multi-camera acquisition (fixed camera and mobile camera). The camera should use manual mode and connect to the monitor to observe the effect.

To solve the strobe phenomenon when shooting LED displays, it is necessary to accurately set the shutter, aperture, ISO and other parameters according to the display refresh rate and various elements of on-site environment, so that the camera can truly capture and restore the delicate image quality of the LED display, presenting colorful background wall application.
